Cheese-less Pesto

This is a quick and easy sauce you can add to practically anything. If you're vegan, lactose intolerant or just not a fan of cheese in general, you'll be pleased to know that unlike most pesto recipes, this pesto doesn't call for any cheese (but it's just as tasty).

Try out this recipe if you got fresh basil from the farmer's market or your CSA box but you have no idea what to make with it :-)

Cheese-less Pesto

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh basil leaves (loosely packed)

  • 1/4 cup walnuts

  • 1 large clove of garlic

  • Sea salt (to taste)

  • Black pepper (to taste)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until creamy

  2. Serve over salad, vegetables, pasta, eggs, nori rolls, collard wraps, as a pizza sauce...the possibilities are endless!
