If You’re Cold All the Time
/If you are like me and get cold easily, especially now that the temperatures have started to drop, you are going to LOVE my winter must-have: a hot water bottle.
For those of you who don't have a dog, cat, or a steamy hot bedmate to keep you warm at night, consider getting a hot water bottle. It will keep you nice and toasty and you won't have to deal with it keeping you up at night snoring or tossing and turning :)
I live in San Diego where the temperature is approximately 65-75 F degrees year-round. My apartment doesn't have air conditioning and while it has heat, I never turn it on.
Last winter, however, I got so cold that I treated myself to one month of turning on the heat. While it did keep me warm, it also TRIPLED my electric bill so that was the end of that! Since then, I've managed to keep myself warm during the cooler months by drinking hot water during the day and sleeping with a hot water bottle at night.
I love how something so simple can be so effective in providing warmth, comfort, security and a sense of calm.
Thirty minutes to an hour before I get into bed, I fill up my hot water bottle with hot water and put it under the covers so that by the time I crawl into bed, I have warm and cozy sheets. Ahhh...
If you're feeling stressed, a hot water bottle can help your body enter a state of deep relaxation. Place it on your stomach, close your eyes and breathe deeply. Notice how the heat helps your tension to melt away.
Ladies, if you suffer from menstrual cramps, consider putting a hot water bottle on your lower abdomen for relief. It really helps. I like it better than a heating pad because it doesn't require you to plug anything into the wall and the water provides extra weight and pressure that helps alleviate some of the discomfort.
It's even still warm the next morning when I wake up after 7-9 hours of sleep.
So if you want a hot body this winter, I highly recommend treating yourself to a hot water bottle.
