Real Orange Juice

Real Orange Juice

Some people LOVE oranges. Me? I like the taste, but I'm not a huge fan of eating oranges whole. It's a bit too high maintenance for me with the peeling, seeds flying everywhere, juice on my hands and pulp that gets stuck in my teeth. So when oranges make their way into my kitchen, like in this week's CSA box, I use them to make old-fashioned, fresh-squeezed orange juice.  It's delightfully refreshing on a hot summer day or after a sweaty workout, like a long run or hot yoga. I get an instant energy boost and the taste makes me feel like a kid again!

Cheese-less Pesto

Cheese-less Pesto

A quick and easy sauce you can add to practically anything. If you're vegan, lactose intolerant or just not a fan of cheese in general, you'll be pleased to know that unlike most pesto recipes, this pesto doesn't call for any cheese (but it's just as tasty). Try out this recipe if you got fresh basil from the farmer's market or your CSA box but you have no idea what to make with it :-)

The Tea I Drink When I have an Upset Stomach

When I find a product I really like, I have a hard time keeping it to myself.

I want to tell everyone about these discoveries, some of which are pretty mainstream and others which I think haven't gotten the attention they deserve.

When I'm choosing a new restaurant to go to, I read the reviews on Yelp. When I'm shopping around on Amazon, I always read the reviews before I decide whether or not to make a purchase. I realized...wait a second, my blog would be the perfect place to review my favorite health products all in one place for all of you.

Yogi Tea

Yogi Tea is one of my favorite brand of teas. I admit that while the tea itself is very tasty, I mainly look forward to the inspiring messages that come with each tea bag. The outside of the box also features a yoga pose (both an image and description) as well...a nice touch ☕

I'm not a big tea drinker, but when I have an upset stomach, I find Yogi Tea's Ginger tea to be very soothing.

Ginger is, after all, one of nature's best cure for nausea.

Sometimes I'll peel and chop a big ol' chunk of ginger and let it seep in my hot water, but when I'm not at home or if I don't have any ginger on hand, the tea bags are much more accessible. Also, it's caffeine free, so no need to worry about this stuff keeping you up all night.

If ginger's not your thing, Yogi Tea's Purely Peppermint tea is also a great option when you have an upset stomach.

Simple (but Powerful) Advice from the Bride

Simple (but Powerful) Advice from the Bride

This weekend, three of my friends and I drove up to Camarillo, CA to attend the wedding of our two friends. This was the first wedding I've been to where I knew both the bride AND the groom very well (I used to live with the bride and used to work with the groom), so it was all the more meaningful. The wedding was beautiful and everyone had a blast. The wedding was yesterday, but this morning I got to see the bride one last time before heading back down to San Diego and as she was telling me about what an incredible time she had at the wedding, she said something to me that I've been thinking about all day. She said...
